How Ancient Greek Influenced Today's Popular Culture Architecture - Ancient Greek architecture is still used in many modern day buildings such as the White House and the US Supreme Court Building. Government - The Athenians developed a democracy style government which is still used today. Other Greek polises developed democracies, but none were as stable as the Athenians. A modern day example is the U.S. government. Theatre - Most of the things we use in modern theatre comes from ancient Greece. Some examples are how they related the audience to the protagonist. We use heightened language to further enhance performances. The invention that actors don't tell a story but inhabit the characters and speak dialogue is from ancient Greece. The Greek first used scenery to show more than what the actors could express. Warfare - Ancient Greece tactics are still used and studied today in modern warfare. The battle at the pass of Thermopylae is one of the most famous battles that many tacticians still look at to develop military tactics that can be used on today's battles.
